Modern Warfare III Campaign Review

A Cinematic experience that leaves you begging for more

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is the latest installment in the blockbuster FPS franchise, but is it worth playing for the single-player campaign? Unlike most Call of Duty fans, I always play the campaign mode every year and see if the story is engaging and satisfying. You might think I’m a weirdo, spending so much money on a game that focuses on multiplayer and ignoring the main attraction. But because I do, I can actually tell you how good the story is. So let’s get to the review.

A familiar world

One of the most striking features of Modern Warfare III is its game world. It is a familiar world for anyone who has played Warzone, the popular battle royale mode of the Call of Duty series. In the campaign mode of MWIII, you will follow Task Force 141 as they travel across various locations, but most notably, Verdansk.

Verdansk is a fictional city in the fictional country of Kastovia, which is the main setting of Warzone. If you have played Warzone, you will notice that Verdansk is in a state of ruin and devastation, with collapsed buildings, burning vehicles, and debris everywhere. You might have wondered what caused this destruction, and MWIII gives you the answer. The game shows you how Verdansk was ravaged by the evil schemes of Vladimir Makarov, the main antagonist of the Modern Warfare series.

The game also takes you to other fictional and real locations, such as London, where you will witness some of the most intense and cinematic moments of the campaign. However, the most interesting part of the game world is Verdansk itself, as you will see it in a different light. Verdansk is not just a war-torn wasteland, but a vibrant and diverse city, with different districts, landmarks, and cultures. You will feel like you are part of a living and breathing world, not just a war-torn and dead one.

The game developers clearly chose to use Verdansk as a major location for the campaign because they wanted to create a connection between the players and the game world. They wanted the players to feel familiar with Verdansk, and to care about its fate. They also wanted to showcase their impressive graphics and design, which make Verdansk look realistic and immersive. Verdansk is not just a backdrop for the action, but a character in its own right.

The same Call of Duty that you love

Call of Duty Modern Warfare III has no major changes in gameplay compared to its predecessors. It uses the same Call of Duty HQ engine that powered Call of Duty MWII and Warzone 2.0, which means the UI, menu, and other features are identical. As a result, the games share a lot of content with each other.

Task Force 141 is back

Call of Duty Modern Warfare III features the return of Task Force 141 and the debut of Vladimir Makarov in this alternate universe. Makarov is not as ruthless as his original counterpart, but he is equally cunning and dangerous. Task Force 141, meanwhile, is still the world’s last line of defense, but they face a formidable challenge from Makarov’s schemes. The game portrays the development of Task Force 141’s characters and personalities in a compelling way, as they struggle to cope with their setbacks and failures. The game does a great job of introducing Makarov and showing the evolution of Task Force 141.

Same mission types and new ones

Call of Duty Modern Warfare III introduces a new type of mission: open combat. Unlike the scripted missions that we are familiar with, open combat missions allow you to choose your own strategy and tactics. They are based on the gameplay style of Warzone 2.0, which gives you more freedom and flexibility. Some people may not like this change, but I think it is refreshing and exciting. It makes the game feel more open and immersive, even if it is not fully open world. I hope future Call of Duty games will expand on this feature and make it even more open world.

Call of Duty as you love

Call of Duty Modern Warfare III delivers the same combat experience that fans adore. The gameplay is unchanged from Modern Warfare II, since they both run on the Call of Duty HQ engine. In short, Call of Duty Modern Warfare III is a classic Call of Duty game with an awesome story.

Conclusion

When it comes to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, the campaign is good and pushes the current Modern Warfare story forward. While not everything about it is great, like the pacing of the story but it’s still very good, just like other Modern Warfare campaigns, the story is told through gameplay and cinematics

If you want to have a cinematic story and brilliant Call of Duty gameplay, this is the campaign but I know Call of Duty gamers, you don’t care about the campaign. How do I know that? As of this writing, only 1.19% of gamers have completed the story on Xbox
