Season of the Witch First Review

The End Begins

The Season of the Witch is in full swing, and I’m here to share my impressions of this game. So far, I’m enjoying the story, but the gameplay leaves something to be desired. Want to know more? Keep reading and I’ll explain exactly what I mean.

6 Person Activities are gone?

I can’t say for sure they are gone, but in terms of this season, they seem to be.

Season of the Deep gave us the Salvage six-person activity, which is fun as you can team up with five other players, outside of the usual stuff like raids, and fight some big evil and accomplish something. But not for this season.

The only activities available this season are Savathûn’s Spire and Altars of Summoning, the latter of which is endless.

Why Bungie has decided against a six-person activity this season is beyond me, but my best guess is that they didn’t have time to implement one because of the development on The Final Shape.

Salvage from Season of the Deep is still available to do if you so choose, but I’m not sure why you would want to unless you have a friend who is new to the game and you want to play older content with them or you want to do something with your clan outside the raids.

The Seasonal ornament looks good

The entire seasonal armor and ornaments are pretty nice. They are based on the Hive, as the season is completely about Savathûn and her sister, Xivu Arath.

What you see above is the ornament for the season, and what you see below is the seasonal armor.

Personally, I’m a Titan main, and I use Hunter and Warlock whenever I can, but in my personal opinion, the Hive armor is really good.

If you are a Hunter or Warlock main, what are your thoughts on the new seasonal armor?

Exotic Ex Diris Grenade Launcher

The Battle Pass is pretty alright

I know it’s weird to even talk about Battle Pass and rate it on a video game because Battle Pass is universally hated, but for Destiny’s Battle Pass, aka Season Pass, they always do a good job.

For this season, the season pass gives some great materials, exotics, emotes, ornaments, and glimmer.

One of the most important exotics is the Seasonal Exotic, in this case, the Ex Diris Grenade Launcher.

Ex Diris is an Arc grenade launcher that explodes on impact, but the thing that makes it awesome is the Loyal Moths exotic perk. What it does is that when you kill someone with this grenade launcher, it will create an exploding moth, the same one that targets you and shields hives, and targets enemies.

On top of that, it is a grenade launcher that doesn’t require reload. While the in-game stat for the reload speed states 69 (nice), there’s no reload animation for the gun. You can keep shooting it, but of course, it’s not rapid fire.

Bungie did a great job with this season’s battle pass, but I can’t speak to the leveling system as I paid to level up so that I can do the review.

Conclusion

At the very start of the season, things are looking good! The game is in a kind of good shape right now, but the question always stands: what happens after the season ends?

It seems like the same thing so far. Once the seasonal story ends, there’s not much to do in the game other than raid to get the raid exotic or Pinnacle the rest of your characters.

As much as I love it right now and the story is intriguing as it’s about Savathûn and her sister, Xivu Arath, I can’t say if it will be good at the end once all the story has ended and you have a month or longer with nothing much left to do.
