Ubisoft+ launches on Xbox in a weird way

Another bad decision by Ubisoft

But is anyone surprised at this? Ubisoft seemed to keep making bad decisions all around, I mean they have delayed Skull & Bones for the hundredth time now and after announcing back in 2022, Ubisoft+ is finally launched in Xbox console platforms but in the weirdest way possible

Now, back in 2022, they never announced that Ubisoft+ will be paired with Game Pass, as a matter of fact, they specifically said it won’t be but that wasn’t that big of an issue, just having Ubisoft+ is already pretty good for consoles….but that all changed today, when it finally launched on Xbox store.

Bundled for failure

The fact is simple, if you are going to sell a subscription to console gamers, chances are they don’t play on PC. Ubisoft has decided to go with another theory that console most gamers, especially Xbox gamers, have a gaming PC that they play on as well. A bet that they are willing to put their subscription service on.

Ubisoft+ on PC is a service by itself but on Xbox, it’s a combined service of PC and Xbox called Ubisoft+ Multi-Access at the price of US$17.99.

Why would Ubisoft do that? Well, it’s beyond my understanding but that would be perfectly fine….if not for the fact that they have decided to also launch the service with only 64 games and while Ubisoft+ on the PC gives those games at the highest premium edition of the game, like say Ultimate Edition, Xbox version of the service doesn’t seem to do that for all the games.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey on PC Ubisoft+ gives you the Ultimate Edition but on the Xbox Ubisoft+, you only get the Deluxe Edition

Just fyi, you need at least the Gold Edition to play the story based DLC content and you need the Ultimate Edition to play ALL story based DLC for Odyssey so you are paying a lot for a service that promises the premium edition but you actually don’t.

And remember that it’s all for US$17.99

The last problem

And here’s something that affects me personally. Singapore doesn’t have Ubisoft+ but a uninhabited place called the Heard Island and McDonald Islands has access to Ubisoft+ and if you think that I’m cherry picking, you can see the regions right here

It’s not just Singapore too, if you live in South East Asia, you just don’t have access at all. Why? You tell me!

Now, Xbox has somehow brought Ubisoft+ to Singapore through Xbox store, somehow the price is SG$15.90 because, guess what, it’s also Ubisoft+ Multi-Access! You know, the thing where you get access to Console and PC.

Now why would Ubisoft do this? It’s beyond me. How can Ubisoft fix this? It’s pretty obvious, I don’t need to even type it but I will anyway!

Ubisoft should lower the price, especially for Singapore and make every game be actually the premium edition of the game.

Also, Ubisoft needs to launch the service in South East Asia and while I’m at it, Xbox should launch Xbox Cloud Gaming as well
