Game Pass Tiers get confusing

A new tier that’s cheaper

To start it off, I just wanted to show you what each tier of Game Pass includes and then we will go into why the tiers are confusing, especially for a parent who isn’t that tech savvy and might just want to get something for their kid to play

If you are wondering what the 25 games are at launch, here’s the list

  • Among Us

  • Descenders

  • Dishonored 2

  • Doom Eternal

  • Fable Anniversary

  • Fallout 4

  • Fallout 76

  • Forza Horizon 4

  • Gears 5

  • Grounded

  • Halo 5: Guardians

  • Halo Wars 2

  • Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

  • Human Fall Flat

  • Inside

  • Ori & The Will of the Wisps

  • Psychonauts 2

  • State of Decay 2

  • The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited

The official announcement also states that games will be added 2-3 times a year

So you might be wondering: what’s so confusing about the tiers? It’s pretty clear and any parent can easily understand what each tier includes.

What if your kid said that he/she wants Game Pass with multiplayer? You would say “Oh, that’s obviously Game Pass Core” but that’s wrong, because Game Pass Core doesn’t give you all Game Pass games and Game Pass Console doesn’t give you multiplayer, so that means your choice is Game Pass Ultimate but if you are getting that, your choice is now the most expensive subscription that also gives access to PC Game Pass and if you don’t have a PC, it’s kind of a waste

That being said, Core creates a weird problem with Game Pass that shouldn’t have existed. Why does Core have multiplayer but Console, something that’s a dollar extra has got extra games but no multiplayer?

It seems like Microsoft should’ve just set Game Pass for Console with Games and Multiplayer online, Core seems to exist just to make console gamers subscribe to Ultimate, that cost US$17 a month.

With the end of Xbox Live Gold and introduction of Game Pass Core on September 14th, it seems like Microsoft has created an issue that is so weird and confusing to the common consumers, maybe Microsoft should go back and change it

From now to September 14th, there are about 58 days. Xbox would not change it but if they would, they should totally change Console to have multiplayer and Core be a lot cheaper with 25 games without multiplayer because Core should be the basic tier
